He doesn't get exactly what he thinks he is going to get and I am very glad he didn't because what he actually gets is a great deal better. Ms. Swan was born in the late 1800's and her books reflect the morals and standards of that time so be prepared for a story that is written from a slightly different point of view that the POV of modern books.Product details

Loved this old fashioned story !
Good clean read
Well written! Very enjoyable to see a young man, without the experience of womanly ways, find out the many differences of women. Quick read. Couldn't put it down.
First time reading this author, some old fashioned language but very enjoyable to read.

That was a sweet little love story. When Richard Heath was saying goodbye to his friend Mary Powell, I knew he'd be back. I liked the way the story was written, it didn't get bogged down with the trips that Richard took and what happened. I am looking for more of Annie S. Swan's books.
A bachelor in Search of a wife was o.k. In some ways I got what I paid for. I knew it would be morally clean, with no foul language. There are no surprises. I was hoping for some well written dialogue of a by-gone era, but was sorely disappointed. I couldn't even get emotionally attached to the main character. His feelings were too shallow.
The one character I was interested in (his future bride) remained a mystery, even though she was a 'shoe-in' from the beginning. I was hoping for some enlightenment into what made these two people so suited for one another, yet ended up with little more than a predictable, not-at-all- clever fairytale with a quick 'and they lived happily ever after' ending. I was disappointed.
