Fresh from a taking down a cannibal clan in frontier Missouri, bound for a new case in Colorado, Gideon Thorn interrupts a highway robbery and finds himself, as a result, transported to the very mouth of Hell on the Kansas prairie. What is the secret concealed by Lazarus, a town welcoming unexpected 'guests of honor' on the anniversary of its razing by Confederate guerrillas in the Civil War? What are the motives of its strange inhabitants, and which—if any—of the visitors will manage to survive? Is Lazarus the fated end of Thorn's long, winding search for answers to the Wild West's mysteries?

Not as good as the first two in the series.Started out fine, but was confusing. The ghost cannibals were not convincing and the whole story was confusing. Why were the ghosts, who were victims themselves, victimizing innocent people?
I do enjoy the descriptions of Gideon Thorn's travels, his care of horse and mule, the meals he eats, his weaponry and his relationships with other people, including the bad guys.
The story was just not what I expected of ghosts and ghost stories. Did not like it.
Story was exciting, just, well, strange.
I will read the last two books in the series, hooked on Gideon Thorne.

Ghost Town Gideon Thorn #3 edition by Michael Newton Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Gideon Thorn has moved on to a new town with new mysteries. I really enjoy the adventures of Gideon, and I find him a very likeable character. I look forward to going on many more adventures with him, but the author really needs to get someone to proofread future books. His previous work was almost flawless, but in this one, there were places he seemed to think faster than his hands could type. Still a good adventure.
The two previous Gideon Thorne books were quite good. Skinwalker was more of an adventure/mystery than a novel of the supernatural. Leviathan Rising features a dragon like creature which may or may not be supernatural. Both books have little details such as the meals eaten by Thorne which help the reader suspend disbelief and accept the idea of the mysterious creatures and occurrences. However Ghost Town has so many problems with the premise and the logic of the story that no amount of believable detail can sell the story. I do not like to divulge plot details so I will mention just one problem with the story. The stage line runs right by the road to the town and the stage relay station is not that far away. Yet none of the people associated with the stage line have ever noticed anything odd even though the town is not even on the map? This is just not a very believable story of the supernatural.
