I really enjoyed this story. It is very well-written. The story has an authentic flavor of the Old West, and Lola is quite a character, very colorful and strong-willed. I loved it when she turned down the offer of a modest dress to wear to the gallows, and insisted on wearing her fashionable taffeta and lace dress.The plot was interesting and the story was fast-paced. It ended too soon. Wish it had been longer. It would be great if the author would expand this story into a full-length novel someday, and tell us more about Lola's adventures in Europe and the West.

I have to say the end of this story took me completely by surprise! Lola is a popular and beautiful entertainer who has captured the attention of many men -- which has proven to be a problem when they take too much for granted. She was only defending herself but now she is facing the hangman's noose when a most unexpected turn of events takes her in a very different direction. The Old West meets feminism in this surprising short story!
