Marie's book of short poems is a quick read that will engage you to think about your own life and what love, and many other themes, mean to you. Throughout her poems she offers her readers advice from her own mistakes and experiences that she has made throughout her life.
Marie also provides beautiful illustrations throughout her book which helps her readers understand the messages she portrays within her poems.
I, as a reader, am not quite familiar with poetry and i found this book extremely interesting to read.
I was able to relate quite a bit with Marie's text and I believe that most people would be able to relate to this book as well.
Some of the advice that Marie portrayed within her poems was truly inspiring for me to read.
After reading this poetry book, I was reminded on how i should love myself and others in my life which i found to be an amazing aspect of this book.
The importance of gardening is an intriguing and eye-opening book of short poems!
You can tell throughout Marie's writing that she cares a lot about her readers which i greatly appreciated!

The Importance of Gardening has some real potential. Chantal Marie certainly has some raw talent, but I did feel that the overall collection was a bit unrefined. The language feels a bit clunky at times, though Marie's poems do not leave the heart unmoved. Also, a fair amount of the poems bare strong similarities in tone and language to those of Rupi Kaur's in Milk and Honey. I feel that if this book were revised and added to, it could definitely be a powerful piece.
This is honestly the best poetry book I've ever read, seriously.The book is quite short in comparison to some of the popular books by female poets I've read. (Lang Leav, Madisen Kuhn, etc) BUT this book tops it for me!
The book is split into 4 parts, and I loved each one. There is something so beautifully simple about the poetry and prose in this, it's absolutely magical.
Often when I'm reading poetry, I don't usually feel like I'm connecting to what the writer is saying. Most poetry is very "meh" for me if you will. However, the style of writing in this book is very classic and contemporary, and I really loved it. I was really able to feel her pain, and this book has resonated with me so much. I have also been a victim of abuse and sexual violence, and I just want to meet this girl and thank her for this. This helped me feel okay.
This is an incredible poetry book that is comparable to the writing of Rupi Kaur in Milk and Honey. Very moving and chantal marie is definitely an author to watch. Would highly recommend the purchase of the importance of gardening
