My name is Aubrey McCory. I’m a Mrs., although no one addresses me as such. It’s because I became a widow six years ago—a pregnant widow at twenty-eight years old.

If someone would have asked me what I thought the definition of true love was, I would have answered with two words, “Matt McCory.” There really wasn’t any other way to define true love. My husband’s love had ignited an emotion that justified my very existence. He made me feel whole. Our love was the kind of love most just dreamt about.

During the six years that had passed, the raw edges of grief had smoothed and so much about my life had changed. However, one thing remained the same—I was still deeply in love with Matt. Although he was dead, he still lived on in my dreams. I wanted so badly to wake up and find him lying beside me, to touch him and kiss him one last time.

Nevertheless, those things only happened in fairy tales. Or so I thought.

ONCE UPON ANOTHER TIME embodies the ultimate fantasy of a young widow who finally gets the chance to say goodbye to a husband who unexpectedly died six years before in a tragic accident.

ONCE UPON ANOTHER TIME eBook Rosary McQuestion

I highly recommend reading this book. This is the first paranormal romance novel I have ever read and I really enjoyed it! The characters are real and likable. You will find yourself sympathizing, laughing, crying, and rooting the characters on throughout their lives.

Aubrey was married to the love of her life, Matt. Pregnant with their first child, they were excited to be planning their future as a family when Matt had a terrible accident, leaving Aubrey with many internal struggles and a great deal of heartache. Aubrey and her best friend Laura, both attorney's, stick by each other through relationship heartaches and life's indecisions. Aubrey finds it difficult to have a relationship with anyone when her heart still belongs to Matt. In her quest to find closure and answers as to how Matt died, she believes that he visits her and sends her messages. Is there really this ability to communicate with him and do her new psychic abilities have anything to do with his return?

Aubrey finds love with a man named Gavin, who strangely resembles her deceased husband in many ways. Their new found love will have you falling in love with them. Matt's death left her questioning the why's and how's of his accident, making it impossible for her to get involved with anyone. The ultimate question is...Is Matt really dead? Is his ghost what is helping Aubrey move on with her life? How will she truly find out what the truth is and be able to trust what her future holds? Is there life after death?

Once Upon Another Time is a great novel. The ending allows us to experience how Aubrey chooses to accept her life and the events that have occurred. Rosary McQuestion tells a beautiful love story that reaches beyond the limits of the heart.

ONCE UPON ANOTHER TIME eBook Rosary McQuestion Reviews

Once Upon Another Time tackles the subject of grief in a paranormal romance. This can be a difficult subject as we each handle grief in our own way.
The book is NOT a depressing book. I even laughed thru some sections. I liked the way the author did it within an engaging paranormal story... quite a novel idea.
A quick synopsis The heroine, Aubrey McCory, an up and coming atty and single mother, loses her beloved husband, Matt, in a terrible accident.
The event is so distressing to her that she has no rememberance of the events surrounding his death; Counseling has not helped her to remember.
After the 7th anniversary of Matt's death, Aubrey beings to have paranormal episodes in which Matt appears to be visiting her and leaving items for her to see.
Aubrey meets a new guy, Gavin, a construction engineer/project manager. Gavin surprisingly reminds Aubrey of Matt in many ways.
The book started off great grabbing the reader's interest from the very beginning... then stalled... then picked up again at the end.
Perhaps it was just my reaction to the grief aspect. I was ready for Aubrey to move on before she was ready. -)))
Overall, I would recommend this book. It reminds each of us that we each handle grief in our own way; you cannot rush a friend when they are dealing with grief.
I did like the premise of this story a lot, as I am a sucker for finding true love and second chances and soul mates and a touch of paranormal and happy endings, etc. This book has all of those but it was written in my least favorite form of writing, first person. We see the story through Aubrey's thoughts only. The only way I somewhat enjoy a first person story is if it goes back and forth between the main characters. In this book we only hear Aubrey's POV, and I would have really loved to hear Gavin's POV. It was a bit wordy in places and I skimmed over some of the book as character and location descriptions were rather verbose at times. But overall it was an enjoyable read once I got into the story, which took quite awhile. I was just about ready to give up on it when Matt's ghost appeared so I stuck with it to the end, but it did get off to a very, very slow start. I picked it up for free and am glad I didn't pay for it. So I guess overall it's an OK book with it being neither spectacular nor terrible. I will give kudos, however, to author Rosary McQuestion, for her amazing imagination in writing this book, not so much for the premise of the story which isn't anything terribly new, but some of the exploits Aubrey found herself in. There were lots of chuckles while reading this book.
I loved the basic premise of the book, but it just didn't have the charm or sparkle to totally engage me. Perhaps it was because the main character, Aubrey, lacked a certain depth. She came across as whiny, spoiled and extraordinarily unprofessional when dealing with her job. Her friends were no better, just rich entitled women with not much more than shopping for designer items in mind. The only goal in their lives seemed to be to be beautiful and to have a rich man to care for them. The hero, Gavin, just seemed to be rather plastic - kind of like a Ken doll with benefits. His flaws were mentioned briefly, but never played into the story which made him seem unreal.

Then again, my unenthusiastic feelings may have been because the author just couldn't decide on a format. Is this going to be a serious romance, or a comedy? The funny moments seemed rather forced and out of place. The serious moments were absolutely breath-taking, however. Sadly the fact that all of a sudden Aubrey could read minds just didn't work. One of the saving graces was the child, and the way Aubrey mothered him so well. I was saddened that the ex-hippie parents were kind of scoffed at. Also there was a back story with Aunt Millie that just was never really resolved.

I got the book for free and so it was not a great disappointment. I think even if I'd paid 99 cents, it would have been OK. The author has some great ideas, but they need a bit of maturity and perhaps some great editing to make things fall together a bit better. Read the sample pages and if the book grabs you, then you will be entertained. You are the sort of reader the author wants! However, if you don't care for it, then perhaps you need to look elsewhere!
